I have been married for 5 years to JG, a computer programmer who graduated from ETSU in 2004. We have a son, James, who was born in January, a dog, Kaley, and kitty, Elle (named after Elle Woods in Legally Blonde).
I graduated from ETSU in 2006 with a hard-earned degree in Philosophy (which makes me smile…the philosophy and the graduating). I especially enjoy metaphysics and epistemology, and have a serious leaning toward more analytic philosophy (as opposed to the continental sort, which just gives me a headache…) I have a real appreciation for philosophy of science, strangely enough, as I have never particularly excelled in the sciences. Of course, due in large part to my love of politics, I enjoy political philosophy and philosophy of law. I loathe existentialism and all sorts of phenomenology. Classical and eastern philosophies do nothing for me either.
I am a member of Midway Presbyterian Church. I am reformed, calvinistic, postmillennial, and presuppositional…and a Puritan wannabe!
I love to read, especially news, politics, philosophy (on the aforementioned topics), and theology, although I do have a not-so-secret love for historical Christian fiction and the Harry Potter books!
I’m a political junkie. I love watching the news. The endless blather on cable news networks is thrilling to me. I love talk radio. Since I don’t want my little one watching tv, we listen to A LOT of talk radio. I’m a voracious reader. I like listening to music, but I love singing along. I want a HUGE family (like, 10 kids…seriously). I’m looking forward to starting a vegetable garden (which I’m clearly going to need with 10 kids to feed!). I’m organized to a fault. Google spreadsheets are my favorite. I probably should have studied accounting. I can’t stand to leave dishes in the sink, to go more than two days without vacuuming, or leaving clutter laying around when I go to bed. I’m a little insecure, but less so now that I’m a mommy. I will never, ever be as good a person as I want to be. I think too much. I tend to make my faith more of an intellectual thing rather than a passion thing – I wish I didn’t do that! I love to write.
